It has been a really long time since I’ve bought a mascara I haven’t tried before. I’m usually quite fussy with mascaras which is why I usually like to stick with the ones I know I love and even the ones that come in a gift sets or as “gift with purchase” can sometimes stay in my drawers untouched.
I was in the need of a new waterproof mascara though and had been contemplating on whether I should or shouldn’t try the majorly hyped L’Oreal Paradise Extatic mascara everyone seems to love. I finally got the waterproof version about a month ago and have been using it ever since. I’ve only tried one L’Oreal mascara before and it didn’t really blow my mind but I wasn’t disappointed with Paradise Extatic!
At first I thought that it was going to be another miss as the consistency was pretty watery on the first application and I had to wipe off quite a lot of the product from the wand before applying. However, after a few days of using it, the consistency got a lot thicker and I could apply it straight to my lashes without having to wipe off any excess.
This mascara gives my lashes so much volume with just one coat and doesn’t look clumpy at all! It also separates my lashes nicely and holds the curl really well all day. The added castor oil helps keep your lashes nourished throughout the day and it even might make your natural lashes thicker over time if you use this mascara long enough (I will try to remember to update you after a few months use!).
It’s definitely waterproof and although I only tested it in the shower under running water, I think it would be safe to use while swimming and it definitely doesn’t budge if you shed a few tears. The only time when I noticed mascara under my eyes while using this was after I’d had a massage which is quite understandable as for some reason this mascara doesn’t dry out completely but stays a tad sticky even hours from application.
The wand is made from soft fibers and is in the shape of a rounded hourglass which makes it very easy to apply the product onto your lashes. I do wish that the other end of the wand was a bit thinner though which would make it easier to apply the product towards the inner corner of the eye.
Overall I think this is an amazing mascara, one of my favourites at the moment and will be my go-to waterproof mascara from now on. If you haven’t tried this yet, I think you definitely should!
Have you tried this mascara? What is your favourite mascara at the moment?
