The Fab 5 | Blueish A/W Nail Polishes

I'm really loving nail polishes at the moment so I thought I'd do another Fab 5 post on them. You can check out my Reddish A/W Nail Polishes post here.
From left to right

Depend: 104 - Sheer black with multicoloured glitter. Even though it's sheer, it's build able and you can make it look extremely dark with three layers I think.

Maybelline Color Show: 198 Shooting Stars - Dark blue with dark blue, light blue and silver polka dot-like ornaments or whatever they are called.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish: 198 Azure - Shimmery blue. This reminds me of "mermaid sea blue" if you know what I mean, haha.

Rimmel London Rita Ora: 613 Midnight Rendezvous - The perfect dark purple.

Nail Polish by H&M: Lollipop Lullaby - This is the lightest colour out of all of my favourite A/W nail polishes. It's just a very light purple.
Which one do you prefer?

Battle Of the Makeup Wipes

Finally a new post! Sorry about the wait. If you haven't read my update post on why there won't be as many posts coming up yet please read it here :).
Makeup wipes are my favourite thing to use when removing makeup. I always use them before properly cleansing my face in the evening. Also you can easily carry them with you and they're the perfect size.
Recently I've been trying out a couple different ones so here's a couple mini reviews on the ones I've tried.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Wipes normal skin
These are actually the first makeup wipes that I tried. They removed most of the face makeup I was wearing but they weren't that good with mascara and other eye makeup. Also the scent is too chemical for my liking. I think these wipes are good for precleansing your face on a makeup-free day before using a proper cleanser. I'd give them a 2.5 out of 5.

Nivea Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes dry&sensitive skin
(sorry that there's no picture of this product, I finished the package and threw it away before deciding to write this post)
Because I wasn't satisfied with the first Nivea wipes, I thought I'd give some of the other ones from the same brand a chance. The scent is a lot more natural in these wipes but they definitely removed even less makeup than the wipes for normal skin! Nevertheless, I really loved using these on makeup-free days just to freshen up my face so I'd still give these wipes a 3 out of 5.

Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes
I almost gave up using makeup wipes after noticing that the Nivea ones didn't do their job but then I saw these Simple ones at my local department store and I'm very glad I decided to give them a try! They remove all the makeup from my face and even light eye makeup. There's almost no scent to them and they feel a lot softer on the face than the Nivea ones. Also the packaging stays closed better so the wipes don't dry out. I'd definitely recommend these wipes and I'd give them a 5 out of 5.

Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Makeup Remover Pads
Even though the Simple Facial Wipes remove all of my everyday makeup, I have to use these Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads if I'm wearing a heavy eye makeup to make sure there's none of it left. These are the most effective makeup remover pads/wipes I've tried but because they're about five times smaller in size, I only use them for heavy eye makeup. The only bad thing about these pads is that they're thicker than the wipes and because of that can feel harsh on the eyes if you rub them a lot with the pad and press it too hard. I'd give these pads 4.5 out of 5.

Have you tried any of these makeup wipes?

Unboxing | Livbox November Edition

I'm super late with this post as you don't even have to take a glance at your calendar in order to tell that we're way more close to the start of December than November.
Anyway, somewhere around the first week of November I received my first box of Livbox which is basically like any other beauty box but in Finland. One box costs 15,90€.
That is basically what the box looks like when you receive it and open it. I love that it always has a different colour theme every month and the ribbon is so cute! The introduction's headline says "Shine, like a Hollywood star!". This time the theme was Stars of Hollywood/party season and I think that gold goes perfectly with it.
Now onto the actual products!
First impressions:
  1. Ibero false lashes (7,90€) - These lashes look amazing for everyday use because they're super long but very thin. If you put some volumizing mascara on top they'd be great for a night out too!
  2. Bernard Cassiere Bilberry Overnight Cream-Mask 15ml sample (48€/50ml) - This can be used as a cream or a mask (as you probably noticed from the name) and it smells very fresh. I haven't yet tried this cream/mask but I'm very excited to do so when I'm having my next pamper evening.
  3. Bangerhead BangerTweezer (8,80€) - These tweezers are the best ones I've ever had! When I saw them in the box I immediately (after taking the photos of course) opened the package and tried them. They're very sharp and you can get a great grip of the hair you want to remove.
  4. Marvis Cinnamon Mint toothpaste 10ml sample (4,55€/25ml) - This toothpaste definitely smells like cinnamon and the description says "Marvis is a brave and modern version of the original toothpaste." "It doesn't contain any fluorine.". I'm not sure why the fact that it doesn't contain any fluorine is a good thing... I'm feeling a bit skeptical with this product but I'm still going to try it soon.
  5. Lumene Natural Code Candy Smile Gloss Stick in 1 Cotton Candy (9,90€) - The Candy Smile gloss stick is basically Lumene's version of the Rimmel Colour Rush or the Revlon Colorburst (or any other product like that). I never know what to call these types of lip colours but I think that they are definitely more like lipsticks than lip glosses at least pigmentwise so I tend to call them lipstick pens or then just go with whatever the brand has chosen to name them. This Lumene one is a bubblegum/cotton candy pink and the "pen" is a bit smaller than Rimmel's or Revlon's. It has no scent to it whatsoever.
I do feel like this time the products didn't match with the theme as well as in the previous boxes. Even though I'm really excited of the products I expected something a bit more dramatic because of the theme.

What's your opinion on beauty boxes (or any other boxes that are out there)? Are you subscribed to any?

Life Update | Being sick & Puppies!

Hello everyone!
I hope all of you have had a nice week so far!

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who has entered my giveaway. It's amazing to see how many people are enjoying it!

Secondly I thought I'd tell you the reason why there probably won't be as many posts as usual coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Let's start with the fact that yet again I'm pretty sick (sighhh) but I went to the doctors today and got some medicine for my infection so that'll hopefully be over soon. That's the reason why there hasn't been more posts THIS week.
But when it comes to the following month or so, the reason why I probably won't have the time to post more than twice a week (I'll try to post as frequently as I can) is that my dogs Lila and Pomo just had four puppies on Sunday!

The puppies won't open their eyes in a few weeks so I'll take advantage of that time and write as many posts in advance as I can. Even though they still can't do much it takes a lot of my time when I need to make sure Lila is okay and all of the puppies get enough food etc.

I'm sure that if I get a huge writing inspiration there will be more than just two posts a week! Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed for that ;)

Here's also a picture of the puppies! The one with the spot on top of the head is the only boy :)
Lots of love!

The Beauty Blogger Tag

source edited by me
Here's a little sneak peek about me in a tag form. I hope you enjoy!

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Uh, well it's kind of both? It's wavy and it would be curly if it was short and not as thick but my hair is very heavy and long so it's wavy/straight.

2. What is your natural hair colour?

Dark brown.

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I've never dyed my hair, but if I did I'd probably let my sister do it or go to the salon .

4. How often do you wash your hair?
Every day because as I said already it's very thick and it gets oily very easily because I'm still a teenager.

5. Do you wear the same style every day or change it?
If this means hairstyle I like to try out different braids, ponytails and put different accessories in my hair but usually if I don't have time/interest I just leave my hair down with a bit of teasing and hairspray. When it comes to clothes I pretty much have the same style every day I think.

6. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I do it on my own but I'd love to go to a salon maybe once a year just to pamper myself!

7. How often do you change your nail polish?
It really depends how I feel about my nails. If I really like the nail polish I'm currently wearing I probably won't change it until it starts to chip and look bad, haha.

8. Do you polish your toes in winter too, or just summer?
I don't paint my toes that much actually. Only when I feel like it but it can be any time of the year. I think it's nice to notice a pretty colour on your toes after taking your socks off in the winter.

9. How long does it take to put on your make up?
On everyday basis probably 15 minutes.

10.  What do you do first? Face or eyes?

I like to do my face first.

11. Do you "collect" makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
I think I'm more of a collector but I never buy makeup I know I won't use!

12. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
I've only worn them once in my life so not often at all! I'm not very good at applying them but I'd like to learn how to be good at it and then start wearing them for parties and events etc.

13. Do you do a full face of makeup every day?
Definitely not, I'm not wearing any makeup right now :D

14. Do you wear make up when you are home alone (or with family)?
Usually no but if I'm feeling like I want to dress up nicely then I like to pop on some base makeup and mascara.

15. Will you leave the house without make up?
If my skin is in good condition then yes or then I'll just put some concealer on any spots but if I'm going for a walk etc then I never wear makeup.

16. How many high end products do you have?

Umm... I've no idea... *looks into makeup drawer* I'd say 15-20. Wow, that's more than I thought actually!

17. How often do you wash your make up brushes?
I try to wash every brush I use for liquid makeup at least three times a week and every other brush ones a week.

18. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed?
I usually decided what kind of clothes I'm going to wear the next day but decide the specific piece in the morning.

19. How often do you change your handbag?
For special occasions and then I have a couple brown and black handbags for casual outfits.

20. What time do you get up and go to sleep?
Uhh, well I don't exactly have a schedule for that :D

21. How often and when do you work out?

Whenever I feel like it. *hides in a corner*

22. Left-handed or right-handed?
Right-handed.

23. How tall are you?
174cm which I think is about 5ft 8inches?

24. Do you speak a foreign language?
Well Finnish is my native so yes I speak English and a bit of German and French.

25. How many pets do you have?

2 Coton de Tuléars who actually just had 4 puppies!

26. How often are you on Blogger?
Almost every day, haha.

27. Do you read the comments posted on blogs?
If I'm really interested on the post.

28. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Yes!

29. How did you come up with your blog name?
Well as I didn't want the name to refer a niche and as my blog is about my life it just sounded right and I still like it!

30. What type of camera do you use for photographs?
I use the Sony NEX-5R or my iPhone 5.

31. How often do you clean your house?
Well in my case I clean my room, not out whole house even though I help my mom sometimes but I usually clean it ones a month and tidy it up a bit every week.

32. What is your favourite colour?
Wow, uhm I'd say vintage pink :).

33. What is your favourite beauty/fashion magazine?
Vogue and InStyle!

34. Do you swear?
I try not to, but yes I do...

35. What are you actually doing with the rest of your day?

I'm going to watch an episode of the Originals, maybe answer some emails and go to bed :).

I hope everyone's Monday went well! If you do this tag, link your post below ;)

NOTD | Autumnal Sparkle

Hi everyone! I hope you've enjoyed your week so far :)

I've been really loving doing my nails lately because I love dark nail colours and now that it's Autumn they're more suitable to wear than in the Summer. I decided to show you the nails I did yesterday because I lovelovelove them!
I was feeling very autumnal and a bit festive so I chose the Depend 005 - which I also featured in my Reddish A/W Nail Polishes post - and the Lumene Natural Code in 56 Sparkle Burst as my nail polishes. The Depend polish is a gorgeous burgundy colour (it actually looks darker than in the pictures, sorry about that!) and the Lumene one is just a clear nail polish with lots of pink and puce coloured sparkly bits and glitter on it.
I used two coats of Depend 005 on every plain nail and one on the glittery one. Then I painted one nail of each hand with two coats of Lumene Sparkle Burst and on top I used the clear nail polish from Tiger.
You can see all the nail polish details in the pictures below :)
What nail polish are you wearing right now?

Another Beauty Haul

I thought I'd show you some of the beauty things I bought last month and do small reviews on those I've already tried.
When feelunique.com had their birthday sale I thought I'd finally buy some of the things I can't get from Finland.

Tangle Teezer the Original in Purple/Pink - This brush is all kinds of amazing! In the winter time my hair usually gets extremely charged but when I use this Tangle Teezer, it doesn't. It takes so little time to sort out my tangles with it even though my hair is pretty thick.

Bourjois Délice de Poudre Bronzing Powder in 51 - Everyone has been talking about this bronzer for so long and I really wanted to try it out. The only problem was I hate buying bronzers without seeing them live because if they're a tad bit too red they don't suit me at all. I still thought I'd give this a go and even though I haven't tried it yet (it has the seal on), I can tell I'm going to love this bronzer!
It's definitely just a gorgeous brown bronzer with a slight yellow undertone on it. I love the chocolate bar look but I don't think it smells that much chocolate like some people say but that might be because I've a bit of a cold right now, haha.

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick in 107 - When I asked on twitter what dark lipstick would be good for someone who hasn't worn them before, this was the one almost everyone told me to get. When I wore it for the first time I absolutely fell in love with it! The colour is so gorgeous I can't even tell you and the lipstick smells like berries in my opinion. It lasts on the lips the whole day and even though it's matte it doesn't dry out my lips (note that I always moisturise really well before applying matte lipsticks). See the swatch below :)
Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in 107 perfect A/W shade
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer - At the beginning of October I was in Turku which is one of the two cities in Finland that actually have a MAC counter in one of the department stores. I had been looking for a concealer that I could wear without foundation so it would have to be full coverage and right shade for my skin.
I remembered that the MAC Pro Longwear has been very popular and that MAC has many shade choices. I went to the MAC counter and waited for the professional to help me. When she did she showed me the shade NC15 which looked great in the package. She put it a bit around my nose and it looked like the perfect shade for me. I was really happy, bought it and went home.
Then the next day when I tried it at home I noticed how light the shade was for me! I tried it again around my nose where it looked okay, but everywhere else I tried it, it was way too light. And when it dries out, it gets even lighter and even becomes a bit red which I think is slightly odd since NC15 is supposed to fit for people with yellow undertones. Also it's very drying for me if I use it under my eyes.
Otherwise I really liked the concealer since it definitely was full coverage but because the shade choice was so light, I can't use it. The lightness even shows through my foundation. Below you can see how MAC Pro Longwear looks in a pot and the comparison between Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in 010 Ivory (read my review here) - which is the perfect match for me - and MAC Pro Longwear NC15.

Sorry about the not so little rant on the MAC concealer, hope it wasn't too boring for you.

Have you tried any of these products?

The Fab 5 | Reddish A/W Nail Polishes

Hi all!
I thought I'd start a new series here on the blog, The Fab 5. It's basically 5 fabulous things I like at the moment. It can be clothes, makeup, books etc and I will always tell what the post is about in the title as you can see :). So here are my Fab 5 of reddish A/W nail polishes!
perfect reddish nail polishes for autumn winter time
From left to right

Maybelline Color Show: 265 Wine Shimmer - A gorgeous burgundy with lots of small silver glitter.

Depend: 005 burgundy - Just a simple burgundy. Perfect for Autumn.

Flormar Supershine Miracle Colors: U18 - If you're looking for a dark colour with lots glitter, this is the perfect match for you! It's a very dark, almost black, purple with purple glitter on it.

Flormar Kone Helsinki edition Duo 2x Chrome: DC03 - This is probably my favourite one. When you look at the bottle it has so many different colours on it, brown, purple, yellow and turquoise/teal. When you apply it to your nail it comes out as a shimmery bronze and when you take it off the cotton pad it purple. I'm actually wearing it now as I'm writing this, haha.

IsaDora Magnetic Nails: 852 Metal Mystery - Bronzy brown with a hint shimmer on it. Love, love, love. It also comes with a magnet which makes patterns to your nails.

Below you can see the colours a bit better :)

Which shade is your favourite?

Collective Haul | Fashion & Beauty

A couple weeks ago I was supposed to have a quick visit in Ideapark (which is a big shopping centre in Lempäälä) with my mom. My shopping list had only three things on it but as we don't go there that often I ended up with a couple things more...
The first thing I bought was this brown fake leather jacket from Seppälä. I love the removable fake fur at the top too, it's very useful now that the weather is so much colder if you still want to use this jacket. They also had a sale going on - surprise surprise - and I got this jacket for 39,95€ which was -20% from the original price.
This next thing is also a sale piece but this time from Gina Tricot. I actually went there looking for a red jumper I saw on a magazine but it turned out they didn't have it yet. I then noticed this t-shirt which was -50% and as I've really started to like shirts with prints and slogans on them, I just couldn't leave it there. The final price was 4,99€.
This blouse is one of the things I had in my shopping list and I fell in love with it even more when I tried it on! It's from one of my favourite shops: New Yorker and it was 12,95€.
These knee-high socks from Lindex weren't in my shopping list even though I've been looking for ones since September. All the other colours have buttons at the top as you can see, but the white ones have little bows. They were 8,95€ each.
Then of course I had to go the Body Shop to buy the 24 Days of Joy Christmas calendar. They were all sold out in the Finnish online store so I was beyond relieved when they still had them. It was 65€.
I also had to smell the Glazed Apple range and it smelled so good I ended up buying the Shower Gel (8,50€) and Bath Jelly (13,50€). When you bought two products from the Glazed Apple range you got a Shea Body Butter for free. If you haven't already noticed from my many hauls, I have a thing for offers ;)
Which one of my purchases is your favourite?

October Favourites

My life as Anu october beauty favourites
This month I've been loving many things that involve eyes. Couple of them are new products I've discovered recently but there's also some good old favourites.

Dermalogica PreCleanse
This bad boy is clearly a new discovery since I just bought it at the I Love Me event (see event post here and haul here). Even though I've been using it only for about two weeks now, I thought it really deserved a place in my favourites post. It's a deep-cleansing oil that is meant to remove excess sebum (oil), waterproof makeup and products that build up on skin before you use your daily cleanser. I think it really does remove everything from your face and I've noticed that my skin also feels softer than before I started using this product.

Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads
I was looking for a good but cheap eye makeup remover. Even though I really like the Clinique one I wanted to try something else for a change. I the noticed one day at my local department store that they had brought some of the Simple products to Finland. I decide to try these pads and think they are simply amazing.

Clinique High Impact Mascara
Great everyday mascara. I used this a couple years ago and now I've really started to like it again. If you're after really long and thick eyelashes then this isn't something I'd go for but I do really like this on everyday basis.
Clinique high impact mascara
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
I usually find it really difficult to apply mascara on my lower lashes with the big wands. With the Clinique Bottom Lash mascara however it's really easy because the wand is SO tiny and the mascara doesn't fall under your eyes which is amazing. Who likes panda eyes anyway? Haha.
clinique bottom lash mascara
The Body Shop All-in-One InstaBlur
The Body Shop InstaBlur primer. I'd say this stuff works like a dream. My makeup stays on the whole day. The consistency is a bit funny though, it's like a thick gel/jelly but it feels really nice when applied on the skin.
the body shop all-in-one istablur primer
Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush
I was looking for a tiny brush to apply my concealer with and when I asked on Twitter what everyone would recommend, someone said they use one of their Real Techniques eye brushes. I then compared all of mine together and ended up thinking that the Deluxe Crease Brush is the perfect size for me when applying concealer and I've really liked using it for that.
real techniques deluxe crease eye brush
And last but not least, I'd want to thank everyone who has followed my blog since I just reached 100 readers yesterday! *parties*
THANK YOU SO MUCH, I've been nothing but smiles the whole day! Stay tuned for a giveaway soon ;)

What have you been loving this month? Any of my favourites?
