Empties #1

a picture of the body shop tea tree squeaky-clean scrub and vineyard peach cream body scrub. also the maybelline new york big eyes volum' express
I've been meaning to do an empties post for such a long time because I love reading them myself. But every time I come across an empties post or video I remember that I just finished a product and threw it away. Nobody likes digging through their garbage right?
Now I've finally managed to collect a few empty products so let's get on with this post!
the body shop tea tree squeaky-clean scrub
The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub
If you've read my blog for a while you've seen this scrub in my July Favourites and Beauty Haul posts. I use this scrub so much and I absolutely love it. It clears my face without over-drying it and as it is a tea tree product it has a disinfecting effect. When you apply it, gently rub it all over you face and wash it away, it leaves a kind of cold and very fresh feeling onto your face which I personally like.

Would I repurchase this product? - Definitely, I already have two new bottles ;)
The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Cream Body Scrub
The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Cream Body Scrub (limited edition)
Another amazing scrub! I really like the scent of this since it's really fresh but not too overpowering like some of the Body Shop's scents can be. I've tried many different body scrubs but the Body Shop ones are by far my favourites because they actually remove dead skin. The little stones in the scrub are pretty hard which I think is the reason the scrub is so effective.
Even though it says "Do not apply to face" on the package, I've still been using it as a face scrub but I've had to be very gentle when rubbing. The sad part is that you can only get this from the Body Shop's exclusive spring range if they decide to launch this one again. I'm glad I bought two straight away.

Would I repurchase this product? - Yes, if I can get it.
Maybelline New York Volum' Express Big Eyes Mascara in Very Black
This mascara is the best one I've tried! I think the dual-ended wand is great. I've read somewhere that the wand for upper lashes makes them look clumpy but for me it doesn't do that. I do think that the wand for upper lashes only adds volume, not that much length but I've usually first applied one coat of mascara with the smaller wand on both lower and upper lashes and then applied a couple coats with the bigger wand on my upper lashes. That has made my lashes look very voluminous and great!

Would I repurchase this product? - Yes, as soon as I've gone through all the other mascaras I've purchased and want to try despite this being so amazing!

Have you tried any of these products? Any new recommendations for me?

#ILoveMe2014 Haul

a picture of the bags I bought from the I love me event
Last week I told you about the I Love Me event I went to with my friend Janita (you can read the post I wrote here) and today I put together a post on what I bought from the little - or not so little - fair.
First let's dive into the cailap bag!
a book by mariela sarkima called makeup bible
I actually had no idea what cailap was so I searched it online and found out it's Mariela Sarkima's makeup equipment range. Mariela Sarkima is the author of the Makeup Bible above I bought from the I Love Me event for 20€. I had been wanting this book for a long time but it's usually a bit more expensive and now I got it with a discount.
It's basically a book about all things makeup. It's excellent for beginners and professionals in my opinion. Unfortunately right now you can only get it in Finnish but I'm sure there are some alternatives for the book in this whole wide world :).
At the fair, there were some amazing offers. For example this shaving gel and after shave by rfsu for only 5€! If you want to buy these from the store, only the gel costs 7€. Such a bargain! I've only tried the after shave but I can say that it works quite well and smells really nice.
At the dermalogica counter there were professionals who examined your face, made a face map for you and suggested products. Now that the weather has gotten colder, my skin has been in a really bad condition (again...) and she told me about the precleanse and overnight clearing gel. I've been using both of them since and I'm really happy with the results. And when they both cost around 50€, I think I should be!
The precleanse is basically an oil which you can use to remove your makeup etc, then you use your usual cleansing product and use the overnight clearing gel only where your skin has any spots.
When you bought two or more products you got a little goodie bag with four small sized products which are daily microfoliant, skinperfect primer, total eye care and a sample of the skin hydrating booster.
Next up is this little black box which I think is the best purchase of mine from the event. Livbox is like any other beauty box but just for Finnish people as the beauty boxes from the UK and US aren't available here. Again there was an offer, you'd get three beauty boxes for the price of two + a goodie box from the event. So basically, that's four boxes for the price of two! Great deal yet again.
"Thank you for ordering Livbox!"
These are all the products that were inside the box. From left to right: Eucerin Aquaphor cream, Rimmel Apocalips in 303 Apocaliptic lip lacquer, Bic Soleil Bella razor, idhair Elements Gold Fix It hairspray, Dermosil Summer Glow nail polish, Dr. Bonner Magic lotion and soap.
Rimmel Apocalips in 303 Apocaliptic lip lacquer
Rimmel Apocalips in 303 Apocaliptic lip lacquer
Also I got this bracelet when I entered a competition. It wasn't the actual price of the competition but some people were lucky enough to get something small right away by just entering.

That would be all the things I bought from the I Love Me event!
The last couple of days have been very long and I'm a bit tired when I'm writing this so I'm really sorry if there's any miss-spellings and if I rambled a bit, haha. Hope you still enjoyed it!

Lots of love

Review | Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

A picture of Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in 010 Ivory
I love trying out concealers. Mainly because I don't think I've found the "perfect" on yet. The one I've been absolutely loving lately is the Rimmel London Wake Me Concealer in 010 Ivory.

First of all, I really like the packaging. You can easily fit it anywhere so it's easy to take with you. The bright orange lid is a nice add of colour to the packaging and really brightens up the tube.
a picture of the rimmel london wake me up concealer 010 ivory opened tube dome applicator
When you open the tube, you find a dome applicator which is a huge part why I like this concealer. It's very easy to work with and you get just the right amount of concealer.

The consistency of this concealer is very creamy and light but it still manages to cover blemishes and dark circles. It doesn't dry out your skin, goes on very smoothly and stays on the whole day. I have a combination skin and I think this concealer does a great job on my T-zone (oily) and cheeks (dry).

The smell of it is very nice and refreshing too, I'd definitely agree with lots of people saying it's almost a fruity smell.
Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in 010 ivory blended
Overall I think this is the concealer that is closest to my "perfect" one! The only down side of this is that there's only 4 different shades available but for me 010 Ivory is just right!

Have you tried this concealer? What do you think of it?
What's your favourite concealer?

The Harry Potter Tag

Happy friday everyone!
Today I'm going to answer some questions about one of my favourite things ever, Harry Potter.
I think the Harry Potter fanbase is the first one I've ever been in and I'm still a big Potterhead. It's also something that is kind of mine and my sister Renata's thing. She is a huge fan of Harry Potter too and the picture is actually of the Timeturner copy I got her as a present. I've got a piece of HP mercy myself, a copy of Harry's wand. It's absolutely gorgeous!
But before I blabber any more, let's see the questions...

1. What is your favourite book?
Definitely the Deathly Hallows. It's so much more detailed as a book and the first time I saw the movie I found it a bit confusing even though I had read the book many times before that.

2. What is your favourite film?
I'd probably say the Order of the Phoenix. I think that's where the battle against Lord Voldemort kind of starts since he changed back to human (or whatever you can say he is with that nose and all, haha) at the end of the Goblet of Fire.

3. What is your least favourite book?
The Chamber of Secrets. I really don't know why... It just is.

4. What is your least favourite film?
Maybe the Goblet of Fire. Maybe it's just the fact that I've seen it more than any of the other films. Or then it's because it's so different to other movies with the Triwizard Tournament and all.

5. Which parts of the books/films made you cry?
When Dobby died. I think I've never cried that much in my life because of a part of a book/movie. Even the Fault In Our Stars didn't make me cry as much.

6. If you could hook up with any character who would it be?
I've always had a soft spot for Ron. Even though in the first movies he could be annoying and a bit dumb, I still liked him.

7. Who is your favourite character?
Luna Lovegood. I adore how she can see good in absolutely everything and is so nice to everyone.

8. Who is your least favourite character?
My least favourite character is definitely Rita Skeeter. I think that's enough said if you've seen any of the movies or read any of the books she's in.

9. What is your least favourite line?
I don't think I have one.

10. What would your Patronus be?
I'm not quite sure if it's actually a Patronus but I really think mine would be a dolphin. I have always loved water and I just think it would really be a good Patronus of mine.

11. If you could have the invisibility cloak, resurrection stone or elder wand, which would you choose?
Invisibility cloak. It would be amazing to turn invisible whenever I wanted with just a help of the cloak. I could go ANYWHERE.

12. What house would you be in?
I actually took a couple of quizzes for this question! All the links and answers are below.
So I guess I'm a Hufflepuff then!

13. If you could meet any member of the cast who would it be?
John Hurt aka Garrick Ollivander the wandmaker. I have always found him a very interesting character and I'd love to know what it was like to be him in the movies!

14. If you were on the Quidditch team, what position would you play?
Again I took a quiz on this. I would say that I'd want to be a keeper or a chaser. And according to this quiz I'm a keeper!

15. Were you happy with the ending?
I'm not sure. I think it really didn't need the "nineteen years later" part. I also liked the end before that in the book a lot more than in the movie. I don't understand why they made it so different.

16. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
Well even though the first book came out a year before I was even born and the movie when I was three years old, I can still pretty much say that Harry Potter was my childhood. They were the first movies I watched when I could read properly (we had a translation from English to Finnish because I couldn't understand English well back then) which was probably at the age of 5 or 6. Also the books were the first "bigger" books I read. And when I went to school, me and my two best friends would play Harry Potter ALL the time.

If you like Harry Potter too, I tag you to do this tag! If you do, please leave me a link below. I love reading tags!

Do you love Harry Potter too? If you do, answer one of the previous questions in the comments!

#ILoveMe2014 Event

*WARNING* this is a VERY picture heavy post. There are little parts of text between some of the picture so don't just scroll through them if you want to know everything ;).

Last Friday I visited Finland's biggest fair with my friend Janita. It contains five different events with one ticket at the same place at the same time which were Beauty, Fashion, Health, Jewel&Watch and Naturally. It's held every year at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention centre around in the middle of October. We walked through all the sections but mainly stayed at the Beauty part of the fair.
I'm extremely sorry about the quality in some of the pictures. Sadly I didn't have the camera I normally use with me because my sister needed it so I had to use the camera in my iPhone.
a picture of the i love me event guide
The fair guide
The Oivallusten Keittiä (the Kitchen of Ideas) was part of the health section. They made all the recipes that are in the little flier I got. I'm actually thinking of sharing some of the recipes with you here on the blog so if you're interested in hearing what it keeps inside of it, let me know!
The main thing that really interested me in the fashion side of the fair, was the fashion show. This was my first one I've ever been in and there aren't so many of them here in Finland. For my first fashion show, it was an amazing experience and the outfits were so gorgeous!

#TeenBlogSeries week 9 | Fashion Icon: Blake Lively

Week 9, the last week of the #TeenBlogSeries. It's been so much fun to write these posts! Can't wait for the next series like this. Thank you so much for Beth and Anouska for creating this! I'm going to leave this very short or otherwise I'd have to write this post in two parts, haha. I hope you enjoy my last #TeenBlogSeries post. Read the previous ones here :).

I remember being 9 years old and wondering who on earth could dress so well in a TV series. At that age I wasn't into series like Gossip Girl but my sister Renata loved that show. Of course Serena van der Woodsen is just a character. Her outfits are picked up or made by the costume department of the series and her makeup is done by makeup artists.
But when I turned 12 and little by little started to watch Gossip Girl I wanted to know how the actresses really dressed up in real life. That's when I fell in love with Blake Lively's style.
Her red carpet outfits are ALWAYS on point and she can pull of many styles. I've never seen her wearing anything I didn't like! Of course I haven't seen every single outfit but I pretty much can say that I've loved all of the dresses I've seen.
She can also dress very well on her spare time and that of course is why she is one of the most influential style icons right now.
Her summer style is very fun and chic...
...and so are her winter outfits.
You can easily copy almost any of her styles because most of her outfits are very fashionable but down-to-earth at the same time.

And let's not forget her makeup and hair! You can always see her wearing very natural makeup with a bright lip or a subtle smokey eye on the red carpet. She never goes overboard and keeps up with the classic trends. Her hair is always styled very naturally too. Down and wavy, maybe a couple small braids or hair accessories. Simple but big ponytails, gorgeous buns and one of my favourites: the fishtail braid up in a ponytail.

Overall I think if you need inspiration in any occasion really you can just search up "Blake Lively style" from Google and just start going through your wardrobe for similar clothes and you'll have a great outfit for your event or everyday life!

Who's your fashion icon? What do you think of Blake Lively's style?

My Current Random Favourites

my current random favourites. leaves. autumn. green
I love posting my monthly favourites posts. Sadly at the end of September I noticed I didn't have any new beauty/fashion favourites to tell you about.
Only now, in the middle of October, I realised that even though I blog mostly about beauty and fashion I can write about anything I want really, right? That's what blogging is about after all - telling other people about what you love, sharing your interests and communicating with people who enjoy the same things as you do.
Now I'm going to let you know a couple things I've been loving so far this Autumn. You'll probably find some of these weird or funny (don't worry I did at first too) but I'm going to share them with you anyway and if you're having a bad day maybe this will help you find something to cheer yourself up!

A picture of a dvd movie called Maleficent which disney made and angeline jolie stars in
Maleficent
This movie is just WOW. I've seen it probably ten times already and I can't stop watching it. I think I even prefer it over Sleeping Beauty which I think says a lot!

The Nanny
I feel like ever since the weather started getting colder my nose has been running, I've had fever or my throat has been sore. That also means I've been relaxing a bit more than usual which leads to watching TV. Unfortunately there's no good series in the Finnish TV other than Once Upon a Time and the Originals which both air on the weekend. Luckily there's always Netflix and I've really been enjoying the Nanny. It's one of my favourite all time shows and it really helps your mind relax.

Swiss Miss hot chocolate
When you've caught a cold you usually want to drink something warm and in my case it can't be coffee because I only like Starbucks' coffee and the nearest one is almost three hours away (sobs) and I only like to drink tea in the morning - it just doesn't taste right after I've been up for a couple of hours. So almost the only thing left is hot chocolate. This particular Swiss Miss hot chocolate is so amazing! The package has 8 packs and each of them has two bags attached together, the other one has the cocoa powder and the other one contains the cute and tiny marshmallows. It's pretty sweet though so instead of mixing the powder with 6 oz of milk or water I mix it with 12 and voilà, chocolate heaven in a cup!

Doesn't it look yummy?!
Mashed potatoes
I don't even know... I've just been eating it all the time and with everything. With meat, chicken, vegetables, on it's own and with ketchup (I really hope I'm not the only one who does that). It's just so good!

image source - edited by me
Hello dolls!
Week 8 of the #TeenBlogSeries! Can't believe it's almost over. I didn't write last weeks post because I'm currently doing online courses so I didn't really have anything to say about "Balancing blogging with school". Anyway, you can find all of my #TeenBlogSeries posts here.
This week I'm going to tell you my top 10 beauty tips (as you can see from the title). Some of these - or even all of them - may be tips that you already know, but they're the ones I like to keep in mind all the time. Hopefully you find them useful!
  • Make sure you have the right skincare products for every season
  • Always moisturise well when you wake up and before you go to sleep
  • Remember to have makeup-free days
  • When it comes to blusher (and usually makeup in general), less is more
  • Replace your mascara after 4 months of use
  • ALWAYS remove your makeup before bed
  • Water, water, water - it does so much more than just keeps you hydrated

  • When using a cream product, set it with a little bit of translucent powder
  • Don't want to spend your money on a new expensive face mask? There are always great homemade beauty recipes!
  • Clean your makeup tools at least once a week to fight against bacteria and breakouts
Also remember these very important beauty tips by the one and only Audrey Hepburn ;)

The Liebster Award | part 3

Hi all!
I've been nominated for the Liebster Award for the third time now (you can read my previous posts here and here). This time I got nominated by the lovely Ellie from Fox's Fads. Thank you so much Ellie for the nomination! Now onto the questions.

  1. What are your most worn shoes?
Probably my white Converse but currently I've been wearing my black riding boots a lot

  2. Do you wear certain jewellery every day?
I don't wear them every day but my go to jewellery that I wear the most are a necklace from my best friend which has a little heart that says "I love you" and my SOS bracelet.

  3. Do you do your makeup before you do your hair?
Always because I have to keep my hair in a bun/ponytail so it won't be on the way when I do my makeup.

  4. How many lip balms do you own?
Uhmm... Probably around 25?! I don't know, I just love lip balms!

  5. What your favourite body lotion?
My all time favourite is the Body Shop Coconut body butter. I've also been loving the body sorbets and they're from the Body Shop too.

  6. Do you prefer black or blue jeans?
I prefer blue jeans but I've also been using black jeans a lot more than I used to.

  7. What's your favourite post on your own blog?
Uhm, I don't have one that I'm extremely proud of but I've a couple that I've really liked which are Ebony And Ivory, A Day On the Road and My First MAC Lipstick.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a bit more again! :)
